Imus mayor warns against fake PWD ID

IMUS CITY, Cavite – Imus City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi reminded his constituents to transact only with the city’s Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) to get their Person with Disability Identification Card (PWD ID) for free.

According to PDAO, the reminder is in line with a recently discovered fake PWD ID sold by some unscrupulous elements.

Applicants are requested to only transact with the city’s PDAO and authorized personnel at their office at the ground floor of the SangguniangPanglungsod building to apply in person and not through “fixers,” or those posing as “agents” extracting some amount in exchange for the processing.

For new applicants, documentary requirements include a duly accomplished form, medical certificate, barangay clearance, certificate from Commission on Elections (COMELEC), 2 pcs 1×1 ID picture and blood type.

For those renewing their PWD IDs, applicants are requested to submit a duly accomplished application form, barangay clearance and previously issued PWD ID.

The PDAO will then process and inform the applicant once the ID, with the corresponding booklet, is ready for pick up.

Republic Act 10754 or An Act Expanding the Benefits and Privileges of Persons with Disability (PWD) extends 20 percent discount and exemption from the value-added tax (VAT), if applicable on fees and charges for certain goods and services, such as restaurants, theaters, and medicine.

The PWD privileges are reportedly being peddled by lawless elements for money, even to non-PWDs.

Maliksi has urged constituents to cooperate and comply with the proper procedures to put an end to this illegal act.

For more concerns, applicants may call Allendino M. Sastre, Officer-in-charge of PDAO at telephone number +6346.416.1095. (PNA)
