PH to showcase products in Germany this February

MANILA — The Philippines is set to showcase its products at this year’s Ambiente, the leading international trade fair for consumer good in Frankfurt, Germany on Feb.9 to 13.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) export promotion arm Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) will lead the country’s delegation to Ambiente 2018.

This will be the third time for the country to participate in Ambiente.

“Ambiente 2018 is a great platform to strengthen Philippine companies’ network and client base in Germany and the rest of Europe. The trade fair is a wonderful experience for Filipino exporters because they have a chance to be acquainted with the international market’s latest trends,” CITEM Executive Director Clayton Tugonon said.

The Philippine booth will carry the branding of “Lifestyle Philippines” showcasing sustainable home decor products.

“Carrying the theme “Sustainability through Design,” the brand bridges the ecological gap between ethics and aesthetics, infusing nature and artisanship in crafting products for modern living,” DTI Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) said.

Among the products the country will bring to the Ambiente 2018 are made of abaca, raffia, bamboo, rattan, coconut husk, and nacre or mother of pearl, among others.

Some of the participating Filipino entrepreneurs at the Ambiente 2018 are beneficiaries of the Regional Interactive Platform for Philippine Exporters (RIPPLES) Plus Program of DTI.

RIPPLES assists micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to develop their products and services through strategic interventions such as capacity building training, product development, market information, and updating on global trends in order for their products to be more competitive in the international market.

Meanwhile, with the country’s participation at Ambiente 2018, CITEM targets USD1.8 million worth of export sales for the participating enterprises. (PNA)
