67 cops to face dismissal – ‘Bato’

Sixty-seven cops will be dismissed from the service by the end of January, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa stated on Monday.

Dela Rosa said that by the end of the month, the result of National Police Commission’s (Napolcom) investigation will be given to President Rodrigo Duterte.

“I asked an update from the executive officer and vice chairman of the Napolcom, Atty. (Rogelio) Casurao and he told me that within the month, they will be able to resolve all of those cases,” dela Rosa told the reporters in a press briefing at Camp Crame.

“It will be submitted to Malacañang for the approval of the President before the end of the month kasi ino-observe namin properly ‘yung due process,” he added.

Dela Rosa recently revealed that cops to face dismissal includes ranking officers, highest of which was a senior superintendent.

Dela Rosa also stated that the president would support his campaign for internal cleansing stating, “I am sure the President will agree right away and he will sign the dismissal order especially for these third level officers—the Senior Superintendents,” he said.

The officials are being charged with various offenses from absence without leave, grave misconduct, neglect of duty to drug involvement. (Angelica Bobiles – PTV)
