BACOLOD CITY — Communications Assistant Secretary Ana Maria Paz Banaag said the government through the Provincial Communication Officers Network (PCO Net) aimed to reach out to the Filipinos through various information channels.
“We want to build bridges with everyone – with local government units (LGUs), with national government agencies (NGAs), and even with the private information officers. We want to build this network and not rely all on media alone,” she said.
Banaag and Director III Princess Duque met with more than 50 information officers from LGUs and NGAs in Negros Occidental at the Business Inn here Wednesday for the 10th leg of the PCO Net launch of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
Through the PCO Net, the agency aims to bring news and information from Malacañang to the LGUs, schools, and even private institutions to ensure that the policies and plans of the Duterte administration are communicated to every Filipino.
Banaag and Duque was joined by Philippine Information Agency Negros Occidental Information Center manager Lorenzo Lambatin in a courtesy call at the Bacolod City Government Center with City Administrator John Orola, Secretary to the Mayor Edward Joseph Cuansing, Public Information Office head Danny Dangcalan.
At the Capitol, the PCOO officials met with Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Provincial Information Office head Karen Dinsay.
Banaag said the PCO Net was a way for the PCOO and for Malacañang to bring the Metro Manila government closer to the provinces.
Duque said there was so much information in the PCOO that they wanted to decentralize for the information to make its way to every Filipino. (PNA)
