P365.6-M infra projects completed in South Cotabato

GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The provincial government of South Cotabato has completed some PhP365.6-million worth of priority infrastructure projects as of the end of 2017.

Nilo Sintin, chief of the inspectorate unit of the Provincial Governor’s Office, said Wednesday such accomplishment was based on results of their monitoring last month for implemented projects within the province’s 10 towns and lone city.

He said these projects, with the bulk comprising road upgrading and related improvements, were funded and implemented by the local government.

“These projects were already completed but some of them still have pending claims,” he said in a statement.

Sintin said the completed projects with pending claims totalled P27,820,924.90 while those fully paid and with pending claims as of December 2017 reached P337,811,105.

He said the completed projects include the concreting of the provincial road connecting Norala and Banga towns; upgrading of Palkan-Cannery-Junction-Upper Klinan road in Polomolok; concreting of junction Lopez Jaena road in Norala; completion of Cannery road in Polomolok; concreting of national highway to Barangay Concepcion road in Koronadal City;

Concreting of New Dumangas road in T’boli; upgrading of crossing Aflek–Malugong road in T’boli; upgrading of national highway junction to Colongulo-Moloy-Duengas-Talahik road in Surallah; upgrading of Banga-Lamba-Derilon-Lampari road in Banga; concreting of junction-national highway-Teresita-Cabudian road in Banga; concreting of Sitio Modon-Upper Sepaka road in Surallah; and, concreting of Poblacion T’boli-New Dumangas road in T’boli.

Also accomplished were the new bridges in Barangay Danlag in Tampakan and Barangay Naci in Surallah, he said.

The official said the completed school and barangay development projects comprised two-classroom buildings with two-seater attached toilets, multi-purpose buildings, barangay halls, gymnasium bleachers, Senior Citizen buildings, multi-purpose drying pavements, curve and standard gyms and covered courts.

Also finished were the installation of cross drainage, embankment and slope protection, and construction of lined canals and water systems.

Sintin said they are currently monitoring several other pending projects to facilitate their completion within the contract period.

He said the move is also aimed to ensure that the implemented projects have followed proper quality standards.(AMS/PNA)
