Cauayan City needs P80-M loan to expand Alicaocao overflow bridge

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela — The city government here has expressed its intention to add one lane to the Alicaocao overflow bridge due to the increasing number of vehicles crossing it.

The bridge primarily connects to all the eastern barangays of the city and serves primarily for the continuous movements of agricultural products and safer travel for the public across Cagayan River.

Cauayan Mayor Bernard Faustino Dy on Friday said the bridge is useful in expediting the services of the city government to the residents of the eastern barangays which are sometimes hampered by the rising river water due to heavy rainfall.

Dy said the bridge expansion is expected to start soon but the city government will need at least PHP80 million to realize said project.

The mayor will ask the Sangguniang Panlungsod to authorize him to avail of loans for the project.

Aside from the Alicaocao overflow bridge rehabilitation and expansion, the city government also plans to construct an all-weather bridge linking the areas of Sta. Luciana and San Pablo of this city. (Merlito Edale/PNA)
