TESDA offers 2,450 scholarships in Antique

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Antique provincial office still has 2,450 slots under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) that can still be availed of this year.

Karyn Mae N. Duay, TESDA provincial officer, said in an interview Tuesday that more than PHP50 million was allocated for the province in 2017 for a total of 3,250 scholars but that only 800 slots were availed of.

“The 2,450 slots are spillover of 2017,” Duay said.

Courses taken up last year under the STEP scholarship grants were Hilot (wellness massage) National Competency (NC) II with 50 graduates and Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC I with 50 of the scholars completing their studies.

The rest of the 800 scholars studied cosmetology courses such as Foot Spa (Leading to Beauty Care NC II), Hair Coloring /Bleaching Services, Hair Cutting, Manicure and Pedicure, Body Massage and others.
