PRO3 orders relief of 6 Nueva Ecija cops involved in extortion

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO 3) has ordered the immediate relief of six members of the Carranglan Municipal Police Station in Nueva Ecija for their alleged involvement in extortion activities.

Police Chief Supt. Amador V. Corpus on Wednesday identified the six police personnel as SPO1 Antonio Otic, PO3 Danilo Sotelo, PO3 Oliver Antonio, PO3 Ronald Buncad, PO2 Rodrigo Edralin and PO2 Romeo Nuñez.

They were arrested in an entrapment operation on Tuesday at the police checkpoint conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Counter-Intelligence Task Force in Barangay Digdig, Carranglan town after reports reached the Office of PNP Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on their alleged involvement in extortion activities.

Two civilians who acted as collectors were also arrested. They were identified as Ramon Cabilangan and Darwin Lagisma.

Confiscated from their possessions were proceed money in different denominations.

“We did not fall short in our warnings and memorandum directives reminding all PNP personnel to never engage in illegal activities. We do not condone such illegal activities and may this serve as a warning to all police personnel who are involved and will be involved in unscrupulous activities. We will not hesitate to file charges against you as our Chief PNP General Dela Rosa’s stern directive to weed out all erring and rogue cops shall be strictly adhered,” Corpus said.

He vowed to weed out hoodlums and punish the undisciplined among the police ranks through the strict application of the punitive sanctions for violations of PNP rules and regulations, and intensified counter-intelligence efforts. (PNA)
