CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — A total of 268 drug suspects were killed and some 2,909 persons were arrested in police anti-drug operations in this province from January 1 to December 31, 2017.
This was reported Friday by Bulacan police director Sr. Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr., to the Bulacan Peace and Order Council.
Caramat said that police operatives were also able to confiscate a total of 8,903 sachets of “shabu” weighing 4,567 grams and 263 sachets of dried marijuana leaves weighing 18.375 grams.
He also said that a total of 281 firearms that include 40 high-powered and 247 low-powered guns were seized in the illegal drugs operations in the province.
The anti-drug campaign in Bulacan has made 30,950 house visitations.
Out of the total number of house visitations, the campaign revisited 26,275 houses which led to 5,079 surrenderers.
Of the number of those who surrendered, 4,955 were drug users and 124 were drug pushers, Caramat added.
Meanwhile, nine illegal drug suspects were arrested in different buy-bust operations in this province Friday.
Those arrested were Rogelio Nacional, Renato Jiminez, Alberto Valdez, and Abubacar Macabidar, all residents of Barangay Gumaoc West, City of San Jose Del Monte; Rufino Caganda, of Pandi; Abigail Francisco of Obando; and, Nasib Patumanong, Melody Garcia and Leonard Jaranilla, all of Baliwag.
The arrested suspects and recovered pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Crime Laboratory Office for appropriate examination while appropriate criminal complaints against the arrested suspects were now being prepared for filing in court.
Caramat has vowed to continuously implement its intensified campaign against illegal drugs otherwise known as “Project Double Barrel Reloaded”. (PNA)
