MANILA — The Cambodian government is seeking the Philippine experience in implementing social health insurance program and providing coverage for the informal sector worker.

The Philippines’ Asian neighbor will be represented by 16 delegates from Cambodia’s National Social Security Fund (NSSF).

In a statement, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) executive vice president and chief operating officer Ruben John Basa said: “PhilHealth is more than willing to share the knowledge and expertise in improving and stabilizing the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) for the long-term.”

NSSF Deputy Director Sum Sophorn, for his part, thanked PhilHealth officers and staff for granting their request for a study visit in the Philippines.

The NSSP delegates will be in the country for a four-day study visit, which consists of discussions on topics like the NHIP Story and Strategic Directions, PhilHealth Today — Bigger and Better Membership Programs by Virtue of RA 10606, PhilHealth Benefits and Availment of Services, Benefits Development and Accreditation of Health Care Providers, Actuarial Process and Valuation, PhilHealth Enterprise Architecture, Getting the Message Across — Communicating and Advocating NHIP, and the PhilHealth Feedback Mechanism.

The Cambodian guests will also visit the PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Office in Calamba, Laguna to observe how the NHIP works. (Juzel Danganan/PNA)
