Another suspect in Ampatuan massacre arrested

COTABATO CITY– Police authorities arrested here Sunday one of the suspects in the infamous 2009 Maguindanao massacre at a police checkpoint in the province.

Supt. James Allan Logan, chief of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-ARMM), said joint elements of CIDG, Sultan Kudarat police office and provincial public safety battalion, arrested at around 4:50 p.m. suspect Tho Amino who has standing arrest warrant for his alleged participation in the carnage.

Logan said Amino, who was facing 56 counts of murder based on the arrest warrant issued by Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes of RTC National Capital Judicial Region Branch 221, was arrested at a police checkpoint in Barangay Dalumangcob, Sultan Kudarat town in Maguindanao.

Logan said Amino was one of the suspects in the Nov. 23, 2009 massacre of 58 persons in Ampatuan, Maguindanao.

Logan said Amino, a resident of Sultan Kudarat, did not resist arrest. He was informed of his arrest and of his constitutional rights, The suspect is currently detained at the CIDG-ARMM lock up cell in this city. (PNA)
