Antiquenos encouraged to enroll in agriculture courses

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique — Antiqueno students are encouraged to take up agriculture courses at the University of Antique (UA) extension campus in San Remigio which is set to open this June.

“Our province is agriculture based and so we need more graduates on agriculture,” said Dr. Pedro Francisco, the Sangguniang Bayan Member of San Remigio and chair of the Committee on Agriculture.

Francisco said that this early, he is already calling on future college students to take up Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Animal Science or in Crop Science.

The two majors will be offered by UA in their hometown this June school opening.

“So far there are already 20 students who have expressed interest,” said Francisco, who is also a veterinarian.

Antique Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao wants more Antiqueno students to take up agriculture courses as only a few are showing interest.

Cadiao even said that students will be provided with full scholarship by the provincial government if they go into agriculture. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
