New NIA-Bicol chief vows improved services, workers’ welfare

NAGA CITY — Taking over the leadership and management of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in Bicol, the new regional manager of the irrigation agency has vowed to improve its services to the farmers, as well as strengthen NIA as an institution.

New NIA-Bicol chief Ramon A. Bugacia told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) Thursday that he would strive for faster and better implementation of projects in an effort to improve services to the region’s rice farmers.

Bugacia, who replaced Romeo Lopez after a three-month stint in Bicol, said he would also strengthen the NIA institution here by upgrading the capabilities and skills of its staff and officials with relevant training.

He said he would also work for the improvement of the NIA employees’ welfare and working condition.

Bugacia officially took over as the new regional manager of NIA in a simple ceremony held at the regional office here, where he received from Lopez the symbolic key of the agency’s Bicol office.

As part of the reshuffle of NIA officials across the country, Lopez was transferred to Calabarzon, while Bugacia took over the Bicol office after his stint in Central Visayas. (Juan Escandor, Jr/PNA)
