Palace suspends Deputy Ombudsman Carandang

MANILA — Malacanang announced on Monday that Deputy Overall Ombudsman Melchor Carandang has been placed under a 90-day suspension for disclosing false information on the alleged bank transactions of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Office of Executive Secretary has formally charged Carandang.

“The Office of the Executive Secretary has formally charged Overall Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang for grave misconduct following the disclosure of alleged bank transactions of the President,” Roque said in a regular Palace briefing.

“Furthermore, the Office of Executive Secretary placed under preventive suspension Deputy Overall Ombudsman Melchor Arthur Caranang under preventive suspension for a period of 90 days effective immediately upon receipt of this order,” he added. (PNA)
