ATI gathers agri-fisheries stakeholders for extension program

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Calabarzon (Region 4-A) has engaged its agriculture and fisheries stakeholders in a five-day dialogue to strengthen partnerships and harmonize its agriculture and fisheries extension (AFE) system.

Dr. Rolando V. Maningas, ATI-Calabarzon information head, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Monday that the agri-fisheries sector stakeholders held fruitful discussions and interactions with agriculturists and provincial representatives from the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon.

“ATI 4-A was able to identify the specific extension and training needs in terms of social and production technologies along the value chain and target participants for each activity,” Maningas said.

He said that through the dialogue-cum-interaction, the needed interventions were identified, as well as the potential learning site per banner commodity was initially listed down for evaluation.

The dialogue from January 22 to 26 at ATI’s various accredited learning sites opened doors for determining specific needs of each municipality and city.

It kicked off at Uma Verde Eco Farm in Candelaria for Quezon province; RGEM Farm in Rosario, Batangas; Domingo Perma Farm in Antipolo City, for Rizal province; Laly’s Farmville in Cavinti, Laguna and was completed at Luntian Republika Eco Farms in Alfonso for Cavite province.

“All inputs gathered from the five-day sessions will now be processed, by correlating these needs with the Center’s plans and programs for FY 2018-2019, consisted with the program’s goals to help improve the lives of our clients and making the AF sector more competitive,” he said.

ATI leveraged the event to highlight Calabarzon’s accomplishment for 2017, as well as the grant system for proposal-based extension activities.

ATI, as the regional orchestrator of a unified and efficient AFE system, has been establishing partnership mechanisms to harmonize extension delivery services, particularly in Calabarzon.

It engages in stakeholders’ dialogues to strengthen its relationship with partners within the region, a key factor for an efficient delivery of extension services to its clients. ( Gladys Pino/PNA)
