5,176 Filipinos Repatriated from KSA

27 June 2017 – The Department of Foreign Affairs has completed repatriation of some 5,176 Filipinos from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since the amnesty program began in March 29. The 90-day amnesty concluded last 25 June.

The DFA deployed two Rapid Response Teams (RRT) to Riyadh and Jeddah/Al Khobar to register and issue travel documents to returning Filipinos. The teams also coordinated with Saudi immigration officials and the airlines to ensure a smooth and efficient repatriation process.

Under one country team approach, the RRTs worked seamlessly with Embassy, Consulate and POLO officials and personnel.

The Saudi government has not announced any extension of the amnesty program beyond the 25 June deadline.

However, PH foreign service Posts in Riyadh and Jeddah have already endorsed many of those who registered to the Saudi Immigration for the processing of exit visas before the amnesty program hit deadline.

It is estimated that about 12,000 Filipinos have registered.

For those who are still waiting for exit visas due to commercial and private debts, the DFA has advised that they fulfill their obligations and settle all debts to facilitate the processing of their exit documents.

It is expected that the DFA shall continue monitoring the progress of the endorsements made and that the Philippine Foreign service posts in Riyadh and Jeddah shall stand ready to provide assistance as necessary.

The DFA is also working hand in hand with OWWA to facilitate the reintegration of those repatriated with regard to the issuance of new passports.END | DFA
