CBCP lauds confirmation of new PH envoy to Vatican

MANILA — The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Migrant and Itinerant People (CBCP-ECMI) on Wednesday lauded the confirmation of Grace Relucio Princesa as Philippine Ambassador to the Vatican.

“CBCP ECMI is appreciative and grateful for the confirmation of Grace Relucio Princesa as our ambassador to the Holy See,” said CBCP-ECMI chairman Bishop Ruperto Santos.

He believed that the new representative of the Filipinos to the Vatican will be an asset to Filipinos there.

“Knowing her as a talented and trustworthy career diplomat, ‘Nanay Amba’ as she is lovingly called by overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the Middle East will be a great help to our Filipinos in Italy and true to her name, a grace to our country and to our Church,” the Bataan prelate said.

“She will be a mother to all there where her words are always inspiring and truthful; her works are honest and very helpful to all,” he added.

On Wednesday, the Commission on Appointments confirmed Relucio as the country’s envoy to Vatican.

Earlier, Princesa expressed gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte for nominating her to the post.

Princesa is a Foreign Service graduate of the University of the Philippines and has worked for 20 years in the Philippine Diplomatic Service.

The new Philippine envoy to the Holy See also served as Assistant Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Department’s Legislative Liaison Unit. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
