Bacolod police gets motorcycles, firearms, body cams

BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) received 10 motorcycles, eight units of Tavor sub-machine guns Model X95, and two body cameras from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 in rites held Monday at the police headquarters here.

Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, director of PRO-6, turned over the equipment to Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of BCPO, in the presence of Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Councilor Ricardo Tan.

Binag said the motorcycles will be distributed to each of the city’s 10 police stations.

These will boost the mobility and quick response time of police stations in responding to crime incidents, he said.

Binag said body cameras will be used by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Units to ensure transparency and to erase doubts during their operations.

We want to make sure that the anti-drug operations follow the Police Operational Procedures, he said.

The PRO-6 chief added that the sub-machine guns will equip the BCPO Special Weapons and Tactics team in further enhancing their capabilities.

In his speech, Binag emphasized the importance of cooperation between the local government units, Philippine National Police, and the community in the fight against criminality. (PNA)
