MNLF man arrested for drug peddling in Gensan

GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Anti-drug operatives here arrested Monday an alleged member of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) for illegal drug peddling during anti-drug operation, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-12) said.

Valente Cariño, PDEA-12 director, said the arrest of Wahid Bandan, 28, in Barangay Lagao here, was a product of coordination and joint operation of PDEA-12, Gen. Santos City PNP, Joint Task Force Gensan and city drug enforcement unit.

Cariño said Bandan, a resident of Buayan Town Site, Purok Maligaya, Zone 1, Barangay Buayan, General Santos City, yielded more than PHP24,000 worth of dried marijuana, shabu paraphernalia, and marked money.

Cariño said during interrogation, Bandan claimed he was a member of the MNLF and holds a rank of lieutenant. He was unarmed when arrested.

In Banga, South Cotabato, police and PDEA operatives also arrested a student, identified as Anthony Ranes, 22, after he sold dried marijuana leaves to an anti-narcotics operative. Ranes was in the police and PDEA watchlist of illegal drug peddlers. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
