Suspected drug pusher nabbed in Dumaguete

DUMAGUETE CITY — Anti-narcotics operatives have arrested a suspected drug pusher following a search at his residence in the outskirts of Barangay Cadawinonan here.

Supt. Jonathan Pineda, Dumaguete police chief, on Tuesday identified the suspect as Jerol Bayron Romo, 32, male, married, a resident of Block 3, Lot 15 at a low-cost housing site in Cadawinonan.

Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit, led by Sr. Insp. Ian Arapols and under the supervision of Supt. Pineda, swooped down on the suspect on Monday at his residence, armed with a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Gerardo Paguio, Jr., dated Feb. 22, 2018.

Confiscated were 17 transparent plastic sachets of suspected “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride powder/granules, improvised tooters, tin foil, and other items suspected to be drug paraphernalia, and cash amounting to PHP5,540.00, among others.

Barangay officials and a representative from the media as well as the suspect’s live-in partner witnessed the search.

The suspect is now detained as appropriate charges in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act as amended are being filed against him. (PNA)
