Bulacan’s victory also marked the 17th time that the provincial delegation emerged as overall champions.
Based on the records, Bulakenyo athletes won 92 gold medals, 76 silver medals and 55 bronze medals.
The province of Bataan placed second overall and took home 49 golds, 47 silvers and 49 bronzes while the schools division of Olongapo City placed third overall and got 35 gold, 35 silver and 39 bronze medals.
For the special awards, the most disciplined delegation was awarded to the Division of Cabanatuan; most organized delegation was conferred to the Division of Bataan; and the cleanest, greenest and eco-friendly delegation was given to Division of Pampanga. They all received plaques of recognition and PHP10,000 cash incentives each.
With Bulacan as host province of the annual regional sporting event, Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado congratulated the winners and delegates from different participating school divisions and said that humility, camaraderie and sportsmanship are always the key to achieve success, especially in the field of sports.
“The annual regional sports meet is a good venue not only for instilling discipline, honing skills and talents but also the best time for fostering camaraderie to our athletes, coaches and staff of the event,” Alvarado said during the culminating activity  of the CLRAA Meet held at the Bulacan Sports Complex in this city on Friday afternoon.
Alvarado also said that winning brings the best in anyone but losing is not the end, instead use those loses as a ladder to success.
The governor also emphasized that in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2018, which will be held in Vigan City in April, schools divisions in the whole Region 3 will compete as one entity.
Likewise, Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Director Malcolm Garma encouraged the athletes and trainers as well as the teachers to carry the colors of red for bravery and love and gold for courage and wisdom.
Garma also announced that the delegates will be called Central Luzon Patriots because the region is the home of heroes and nationalistic people. (PNA)
