373 Cordillera cops get ranks

CAMP BADO DANGWA, Benguet — Police Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza, Regional Director of Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) on Monday presided in the oath-taking ceremony and donning of ranks of 373 newly promoted personnel of the command here.

“Finally, the promotion you have been waiting has eventually landed on your shoulder. Your hard work and determination paid off, as you earned it fairly,” Carranza said in his message at the event. “You have successfully hurdled challenges and sacrificed much of your time in pursuit of our undertakings. You have proven to everyone what quality work is all about.”

Carranza said he was glad that the promoted personnel could see the value of their hard work.

“The road to success had never been smooth, yet you have conquered it,” Carranza told the policemen, who were joined by members of their immediate family during the activity.

The PROCOR chief also challenged the men in uniform to help fight crime.

“I challenge you to do your best and help your organization in our fight against all forms of criminality,” Carranza said. “Let us all be involved in the fight against lawlessness.”

Relaying what President Rodrigo Duterte consistently tells policemen and other men in uniform in relation to their salaries, Carranza urged the cops to live within their financial means.

“As you get your promotion, you will also get higher pay, do not adjust the way you spend your money,” Carranza said, as he also encouraged the families of the policemen to save.

“Do not overspend. Manage your salary well because if you don’t manage your salary that’s the time a policeman commits a misdemeanor,” he warned.

Policemen, the regional director said, should always perform their duties within the bounds required of them, based on their sworn duty.

“Double your effort and exercise your police functions with utmost courtesy and discipline worthy of your ranks,” Carranza said, stressing the cops are expected to be role models of competence, discipline, excellence, and professionalism. (PNA)
