CSC to agency heads: Recognize outstanding gov’t workers

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is urging heads of agencies to recognize their outstanding employees by nominating them to the 2018 Search for Outstanding Government Workers. Submission of nomination is until March 30, 2018.

“The Search is an annual nationwide undertaking of the CSC to recognize government officials and employees who have displayed outstanding work performance. We believe that there are many government workers who have exemplary contributions and whose works deserve to be recognized,” said CSC Chairperson Alicia dela Rosa-Bala.

At present, there are a total of 2,696 awardees coming from a broad field of professions and fields of expertise in the public service: education, sciences, agriculture, local governance, health care, army, fire protection, and disaster risk management, among others.

The Presidential Lingkod Bayan is conferred to an individual or a group for exceptional or extraordinary contributions that had nationwide impact. The Outstanding Public Officials and Employees or the Dangal ng Bayan Award on the other hand, is conferred to an individual for performance of extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of his/her adherence to the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. Past awardees include medical/health personnel who deliver services in remote areas and teachers assigned in far-flung communities. The CSC Pagasa Award is given to an individual or group of individuals for outstanding contributions that directly benefit more than one department of the government.

The Awards Rites forms part of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary in September to celebrate the outstanding contributions of public service exemplars and is usually held in Malacañang.

“We are certain that we will never run out of inspiring stories in the public service. We look forward to receiving more nominations from agencies this year,” said CSC Chairperson Bala.

The complete nomination guidelines is uploaded on www.csc.gov.ph. For more details, the public may reach the CSC Honor Awards Program Secretariat through telephone nos. (02) 932-0381 and 932-0111, or email at [email protected], or through CSC’s Facebook Page (fb.com/PhilippineCivilServiceCommission). (CSC-PR)
