SSS loan restructuring program resumes April 2

ILOILO CITY — Delinquent members are encouraged to avail of the loan restructuring program of the Social Security System (SSS) that will start this April 2, said Assistant Vice President for Western Visayas Division Raul Casiano.

“This is the continuation of our loan restructuring that ended April 2017. So we are going to resume it April 2 to October 1,” Casiano said on Monday.

He said they would like to give a chance to delinquent members, especially those with big accounts, to settle their loans.

“Probably they failed to avail of the previous loan restructuring program,” he added.

Those who availed of the previous restructuring yet were not able to pay, then their loans will just revert to the original amount and will incur penalty. “This is another chance for them to apply again,” he said.

Casiano said they are waiting for documents as to members who availed of the previous program. Nonetheless, those who are interested are advised to visit any nearest SSS office and accomplish their required forms, he said.
Meantime, he said that they are still waiting for advice regarding the second tranche of the increase in the pension of their members. The second tranche is supposed to be implemented this year.

While there is no guidelines yet, Casiano said that they will just continue to collect more, increase more members by registering employees who are not members of the SSS and encourage inactive members, self-employed and voluntary members to continue paying contributions. (Perla Lena/PNA)
