COCs for village polls now available for download: Comelec

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday announced said that certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the May 14 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections can now be downloaded online.

Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez advised those who are looking to participate in the polls to download their copy so that this early, they will have an idea on what they need to know about the COC.

“Downloading the COCs early will give them a chance to familiarize themselves with it,” he said in an interview.

The COCs may be obtained either at the local Offices of Election Officers (OEOs) or downloaded from the Comelec website.

Jimenez said that getting COCs will help them strategize, specifically with regards to the use of nicknames.

The filing of COCs for the forthcoming polls will be from April 14 to 20.

Under the law, no person shall be eligible for any barangay or SK position unless he files a sworn COC.

In the May 14 polls, regular voters will be electing one Barangay Chairman, and seven Barangay Kagawads.

Young Filipinos, meanwhile, aged 15 to 30 are set to elect one SK chairperson, and seven SK members. (PNA)
