MANILA — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) programs and activities can now be heard on air via “Tech-Voc Track ay Swak!” (TVTS) radio program every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon, on Far East Broadcasting Company’s (FEBC) 702 DZAS (AM band).

The radio feature piloted on Wednesday as a segment of FEBC’s Entre-Pinoy Espesyal (EPE) program.

TESDA earlier expressed its desire to use the different media platforms to reach a wider audience. It wanted to better inform the public about the agency’s programs and activities.

TESDA Director General Guiling Mamondiong has acknowledged the media’s role in information dissemination.

Last January, Mamondiong noted the vital role of media in informing the public about government’s programs they can avail of.

“TVTS is our way of letting the people know about the services that TESDA offers. The program will also feature success stories of those who preferred to take the tech-voc (technical vocation) track and stories of our TVET (technical and vocational education and training) partners,” chief TESDA specialist and TVTS host Floramel Joy Songsong told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Wednesday.

The weekly program has a segment called “Tech Ka Nga”, where the host will answer queries from listeners. The public can send questions about TESDA or TVET via phone, social media, or mail.

The initial broadcast tackled the use of social media as a support mechanism in promoting TVET.

“It (pilot broadcast) went well. There were phoned-in questions on how to avail of TESDA programs/services. We also received testimonies about how TESDA’s tech-voc training has provided people with more livelihood opportunities,” Songsong told PNA.

Next week, TVTS will further discuss what tech-voc is all about, she added.
The public can also check TVTS via 702 DZAS Entre-Pinoy Espesyal Facebook page live stream. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
