ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) has reiterated its appeal to coconut industry stakeholders to register with the PCA to be able to avail of benefits under the coco levy fund.

Efren Carba, PCA-Zamboanga provincial head, reiterated the call as Congress is settling issues concerning the coco levy fund, including its utilization.

Carba said those eligible to register are coconut farmers, workers and caretakers.

“They just have to go to the office and have themselves registered and the PCA will do the necessary validation,” he told the Philippine News Agency.

He said only registered coconut industry stakeholders can avail of the benefits once Congress resolved the issues on the utilization of the coco levy fund.

Carba said they initially expected that some 14,000 coconut farmers, workers and caretakers will register with the local PCA office.

However, only 2,000 coconut industry stakeholders have registered with them since the process started two years ago.

He said coconut industry stakeholders have three months left to register and be validated by the PCA. (PNA)
