Bizman nabbed for possessing various firearms in Cavite

GENERAL MARIANO ALVAREZ, Cavite — Police operatives arrested a businessman for possession of various firearms in his residence in Pasong Saging, Barangay Poblacion 5 here on Friday.

Senior Inspector Rodel Sarmiento, GMA deputy chief of police, identified the suspect as Dione Tapion Rodrigo, a 52-year old native of Masbate, and a businessman from this town’s Pasong Saging suburb in Barangay Poblacion 5.

Sarmiento said they conducted their operation in the area by virtue of Search Warrant No. C279 for illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions in violation of Republic Act 10591, or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”

The search team seized from Rodrigo a caliber .38 without serial number; a caliber 45 M1911 A1 with serial no. 397527 without a handgun grip; a caliber 45 Armscor M1911 A1 FS G1 with serial number ‎1436691; three caliber 45 magazines; and 20 live ammunition for caliber 45.

Appropriate charges will be filed by law enforcers against the suspect while the recovered pieces of evidence were turned over to the Cavite Crime Laboratory Office for ballistic examination and for custody. (Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
