1 killed, 17 nabbed in Bulacan anti-drug ops

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — A drug suspect was killed while 17 others were arrested in separate drug operations in Bulacan on Wednesday and early morning Thursday.

Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr., Bulacan police director, identified the slain suspect as alias Ato, a resident of Barangay Guinhawa, this city.

Caramat said the suspect agreed to a drug deal with undercover agents in Barangay Igulot, Bocaue town, at around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

“The suspect sensed he was dealing with police operatives, fired his gun to escape but was killed when the law enforcers retaliated,” he said.

Police recovered from the suspect three plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a .38 caliber gun with three live and one spent bullets and the PHP500 marked money.

Meanwhile, 17 others were arrested in buy-bust operations in the City of San Jose del Monte and the towns of Angat, Bulakan, Bustos, Bocaue, Pandi, Marilao, San Ildefonso, Guiguinto and Santa Maria.

Caramat identified the arrested suspects as Ronnie Villarama, Jerrylyn Tolentino, Mae Carla Delimios, Ryan Christian Lopez, Michael Esteban, Gian Benedick Veluz, Santos Rosero, Larry Sotto, Shiela Abunagan, Retchel Perez, Jaime Lozara Socaire, Edwin Mendoza Reyes, Benny Guipit Pineda, Josie Ortega Vallesan, Daryl Jade Leonardo, Dennis De Jesus, and Clinton Guevara.

A total of 41 plastic sachets of suspected shabu and 14 plastic sachets of suspected dried marijuana leaves, assorted drug paraphernalia and buy-bust money were recovered from the arrested suspects, Caramat added. (Manny Balbin/PNA)
