ILOILO CITY — The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) will be in charge of consolidating initiatives proposed by government agencies in line with the temporary closure of Boracay.
This was agreed upon during the RDRRMC special meeting held Monday afternoon in this city after concerned agencies presented their programs in response to the proposed closure.
However, to provide a system, the head of every cluster would be the one to gather their member-agencies and do the reporting to the RDRRMC chair, Regional Director Jose Roberto R. Nuñez of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD), said Alleth Nogra of the DRRM Division.
For the response committee it will be the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) for the rehabilitation committee.
Meantime, the peace and order and security will be in coordination with the Task Force Aninipay of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Nogra said that at noontime on Tuesday, the clusters were required to submit their initial intervention in response to the closure as agreed upon during the special meeting.
The report will be submitted by the RDRRMC chair to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council for their discussion.
The clusters are also required to regularly submit a situational report once they start their operations.
Meanwhile, during Monday’s special meeting, the DILG also presented draft guidelines on the implementation of the closure order for the six months rehabilitation.
The guidelines supposedly aim to provide direction to agencies as they craft their respective plans.
The guidelines define the access status of stakeholders going in and out of Boracay, provides direction on access restrictions on activities of people who will be allowed entry and specify the responsibilities of the members of the interagency task force in the implementation of the closure. (PNA)
