CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Anti-narcotics and military operatives arrested a drug personality and seized more than PHP50,000 worth of illegal drugs during a joint operation in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat province.

Capt. Arvin John Encinas, Army’s 6th Infantry Division (6ID) spokesman, said members of the Drug Enforcement Agency of Region 12 (Soccsksargen), backed by elements of the Army’s 14th Mechanized Company and the Lambayong Police, swooped down on Barangay New Cebu in Lambayong on Tuesday night and collared suspect Anjo Gocotano, a local resident.

The operation against Gocotano at his residence was based on a search warrant for violation of the anti-Illegal drug law. Seized during the operation were eight various sizes of sachets containing “shabu”, an illegal substance, with an estimated street value of PHP50,000; and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect is under the custody of the Lambayong Police for the filing of charges and proper disposition.

Major Gen. Arnel dela Vega, 6ID commander, said military units in the 6ID’s area of responsibility will continue to help uphold the campaign against illegal drugs to eradicate the social menace victimizing people, particularly the youth. (Noel Punzalan/PNA)
