DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the nearby island-province of Siquijor on Monday inaugurated its new Negosyo Center in the municipality of Larena.
DTI-7 (Central Visayas) Director Asteria Caberte and Siquijor Gov. Zaldy Villa led the inauguration rites Monday.
DTI Siquijor officer-in-charge provincial director Angeline Pauline Gonzalez was quoted saying: “We are so proud of this because it is now Type A from Type C,” referring to the Negosyo Center in Larena.
The Negosyo Center was upgraded to Type A because of its size and its training center can now be utilized, she said.
She said they are happy with this development because the Larena local government unit has helped a lot in the establishment of the Negosyo Center, which she described as a “co-sharing of the expenses.”
“The Negosyo Center in Larena will also cater to the MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises), not just from Larena but also from Enrique Villanueva, which is the nearby town,” she said.
The Center was established previously a Type C category since it only had a desk at the municipal hall of Larena, she said.
“But this time the LGU gave a space for it and we had to renovate it so that this time this is Type A with a training room that can even hold 40 people (at one time),” according to Gonzales.
There are three Negosyo Centers in the province of Siquijor, namely, in the municipality of Siquijor, which will also cater to San Juan town, and another one that was launched last January in Lazi town and will also serve Maria town.
“The presence of Negosyo Centers will definitely boost the business industry because, in fact, (our) businesses (in Siquijor) have increased,” she added. (PNA)
