Suspects in Maguindanao beheading ‘identified, being hunted’

PARANG, Maguindanao–Authorities have identified the perpetrators behind the brutal deaths of two farmers here over the weekend.

The suspects, according to Supt. Ibrahim Jambiran, Parang town police chief, are residents of Barira, a town next to Parang, also in Maguindanao.

Jambiran said the Parang police has coordinated with the Barira police to help arrest the perpetrators in the beheading of farmers Ceasar Deamada Fermin, 42 and Jabon Bistas, 21, both residents of Barangay Gumagadong Calawag here.

Their decapitated remains were found at a coconut plantation in the village by residents on Saturday morning, April 28, after they were reported missing on Friday night.

Police believed the victims were beheaded while asleep in the makeshift copra harvesting station.

The victims’ heads were later found on Sunday noon in a forested section of Sitio Camalig, Barangay Panggao in neighboring Barira town.

Barira Mayor Abdulradzak Tomawis said in a radio interview that he will help locate the suspects that the police did not name in public as of yet.

Maguidnanao Gov. Esmael Toto Mangudadatu condemned the murder of two farmers and directed the police provincial office to help fast track the investigation. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
