PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur–The local and provincial governments marked the Labor Day celebration with job and livelihood fairs to provide employment opportunities to locals.

In partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and other national government agencies, a total of 3,228 job vacancies for local and overseas employments were offered to jobseekers.

Camilo Encila Jr., DOLE provincial officer-in-charge, told the Philippine News Agency that they hope to fill up at least 20 percent of the available job vacancies through the jobs and livelihood fair.

Encila said the Department of Trade and Industry spearheaded the conduct of livelihood training with a focus on how to avail capitalization to start a business.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authorities, meanwhile, provided spot training and enrollment to interested individuals who want to attend technical courses. (Hirohito Cadion/PNA)
