P20-M Macapagal Arroyo Science Building inaugurated in Pampanga town

LUBAO, Pampanga –A newly-constructed Macapagal Arroyo Science Building at Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU) satellite campus in this town was inaugurated on Wednesday with Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Governor Lilia G. Pineda gracing the occasion.

The new building, worth PHP20 million was donated by Lawyer Mike Arroyo through the Lourdes Tuazon de Arroyo Foundation Inc.

In return, Rep. Arroyo requested DHVTSU Lubao to become a depository of town’s history and information, potential tourism destination, and top attraction through writing a backstory of each town and city of the province.

“As a province, we are known in culinary but we have now a “Love Pampanga” branding so I would suggest that we should have for instance in Lubao, we can incorporate “Eat-Play-Love Pampanga because we have the Pradera where we can play golf. In Porac, we can have “Eat-Climb-Love Pampanga because of the mountain ranges,” she said.

She likewise asked the DHVTSU personnel to continuously excel in engineering course.

“This is very in demand especially now that we have a Build, Build, Build Program under President Duterte. We need many engineers now,” Arroyo said.

Governor Pineda, for her part, said this is a milestone not only for Lubao but also for the nearby towns and province, as DHVTSU, where the young Kapampangans can avail quality and affordable college education, is now closer to their doorsteps.

“We are very fortunate that DHVTSU is now in Lubao. Hence, together with Congresswoman Arroyo, we are dreaming of 5,000 students for DHVTSU Lubao Satellite Campus in the near future,” Pineda said.

Dr. Enrique G. Baking, president of DHVTSU thanked the congresswoman and the Arroyo family for donating the Science education building for the university.

“Through the effort of former President, the Arroyo family donated this Science Education Building for the university to continually perform its mandated functions to provide better educational opportunities to our target clientele particularly in the western part of Pampanga,” DHVTSU president said.

“Had it not been for the generosity and kindness of Governor Pineda, of course, this satellite campus in Lubao has not been realized,” he also said.

Baking assured the governor and the former president that they will do their best to help the Kapampangans in the western part of Pampanga in providing them the desired skills, knowledge, and attitude to make them productive and versatile citizens.

The DHVTSU science building was constructed in the eight-hectare property along Olongapo-Gapan Road in barangay Sta. Catalina this town beside the new municipal hall. (Joel Mapiles/PNA)
