2,632 candidates sign peace covenant in Bacoor

BACOOR CITY, Cavite – A total of 2,632 candidates for village chiefs, councilmen and Sangguniang Kabataan (youth) have signed a peace covenant for the May 14 elections at Strike Gymnasium here Wednesday morning.

The candidates for barangay and SK chairpersons and members pledged their support to a peaceful and orderly election before Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, as witnessed by Acting Provincial Election Supervisor lawyer Sheryl Moresca- Julie, Cavite provincial police director, Senior Superintendent William Segun; Bacoor City police chief, Superintendent Francisco Lucena III; and Bacoor DILG Officer Nencita Castelo.

Bacoor City has 168 candidates for barangay chiefs, 1,421 for Barangay councilmen, 153 for SK chairperson, and 890 for SK members distributed in 73 barangays with a total population of 520,216.

After the covenant signing, the candidates underwent drug testing.
If any of the candidates is found positive in the drug test, the Comelec will decide on what to do after the election. (Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
