Dasmariñas City awards cash gift, free movies to PWDs

DASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite –The city government of Dasmariñas is giving PHP1,000 birthday cash gift to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) registered in the city during their birth month.

Focal Person for CSWDO-Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) Marie Shiela Antenor-Haloc said Wednesday the cash gift is given to PWDs in celebration of their natal day to show them that in spite of the disability, they are deemed special and appreciated by the community.

The financial assistance is released on a bimonthly basis at the covered area at DasCa Grounds in Barangay Burol 2.

Presently, there are 6,553 PWDs registered with the City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO) of Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Haloc said PWD ID card holders issued by the city government are also entitled to watch one free movie per week (Mondays or Tuesdays) at SM City Dasmariñas.

PWDs are entitled to the same privileges as senior citizens as mandated by law. These include discounts on purchase of medicines, food/basic commodities and transportation, among others.

The PWDs, together with their spouses and children less than 18 years of age, are covered by the city government’s ‘No Balance Billing’ (NBB) policy – meaning they can avail of medical services for free when confined at the Pagamutan ng Dasmariñas. (Gladys Pino/PNA)
