2 arrested for Comelec gun ban in Bulacan

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, City of Malolos, Bulacan — Two persons were arrested Sunday in the City of San Jose del Monte and Pandi town for violating the gun ban in line with the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on May 14.

Sr. Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr., Bulacan police director, identified the arrested suspects as Pamfelo Carola alias Lacson, 58, of San Jose Heights in San Jose Del Monte City; and Oliver Gabriel, 44, of Barangay Siling Matanda in Pandi.

Carola was celebrating his birthday when John Michael and friends gate crashed to the party and were forcibly evicted by the celebrant.

Michael and friends then threw stones at the doors and windows of Carola’s house, forcing him to shoot Michael on the chest and was declared dead on arrival at the district hospital of the city.

Responding policemen recovered from Carola an improvised firearm loaded with one live 12 gauge bullet and a spent bullet shell.

On the other hand, Gabriel pointed his gun and threatened to shoot Ann Castañeda and her brother-in-law in Pandi town.

The victims reported the incident to the police who immediately responded and arrested the suspect and confiscated from him a firearm. (Manny Balbin/PNA)
