More than 200 kids with special needs join ‘Pedya Kamp 2018’

PAGBILAO, Quezon – More than 200 children with special needs from the Pedya Kamp Association Inc. wrapped up on Saturday their 10-day summer camp organized by the God’s Special Children Inc. at the Pagbilao Central Elementary School here.

Pedya Kamp Association Inc. chair Dr. Art Libao thanked Quezon Governor David C. Suarez for the provincial government’s support and assistance to the group and its advocacy to look after the welfare of children with special needs.

“Gusto naming ipakita sa community na hindi dapat katakutan ang mga batang ito (We want to show to the community that they should not be cautious or worried on these children). Early diagnosis leads to early treatment and intervention,” Dr. Libao said.

He said the annual Summer Camp themed “To judge less is to understand more” aims to increase awareness in the public to also pay attention, gain acceptance and support to these children with special needs.

The participants include the intellectually disabled, physically handicapped, street children, orphans, hearing- and visually-impaired and children with autism.

He added that summer camp volunteers facilitated and assisted the children during the 10-day stay-in gathering at the public school campus here.

Meanwhile, Suarez expressed support for this special undertaking as part of his “Next 3, Best 3 Years” governance thrust on human investment including the promotion of children’s rights and their welfare. (Gideon Belen/PNA)
