Comelec: NCR poll precincts opened on time

MANILA — Polling precincts in the National Capital Region opened on time for the 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Monday.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said that precints in Metro Manila opened at exactly at 7 a.m..

At the same time, Jimenez added that elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) are ongoing except for three areas.

“For those who are asking the elections in the ARMM pushes through except for Bacolod, Kalawi, Lanao del Norte; Binidyan and Masiu, Maguindanao,” he said in a press briefing.

The poll body official noted that they are having a hard time communicating with the officials in the said areas due to bad signal.

Jimenez said they have the same problem with Turtle Islands in Tawi-Tawi.

On the other hand, he added that elections are also ongoing in Basilan, Sulu and the rest of Maguindanao.

The Comelec official said that so far, there are no reported incidents in Regions 1, 3, 4A, 4B, 6, 7, 8 and Cordillera Administrative Region. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
