PPP Knowledge Corner opens in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY — The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) regional office in Bicol and the Public-Private Partnership Center (PPPC) of the Philippines launched the PPP Knowledge Corner at NEDA Regional Office here Thursday morning.

The Bicol PPP knowledge corner, PPP’s 11th information hub in the country, hopes to assist local government units (LGUs), implementing agencies and other stakeholders get updated information and knowledge on PPP projects.

Feroisa Concordia, Director for Capacity Building and Knowledge Management Service of PPP, in an interview Thursday, said the Knowledge Corner will help ensure that the public and private sectors will observe the process to have properly prepared projects that will be sustainable for the community.

“Think of PPPs projects that if private sectors would come in and cover their investments, we can expect they will give the commensurate quality projects because they will earn something out of the projects,” Concordia said.

She said that in the past, comfort rooms in bus terminals were not so neat and clean, but now, they were neat and clean because of PPP projects between the LGUs and the private sector.

“This is just one simple example of PPP in our country, and PPP creates services not assets,” she said.

PPP Knowledge Corner will also serve as PPP center regional office to entertain and address concerns and inquiries that cannot be answered by NEDA.

“We will share the information, data even forms needed by the LGUs if they are interested to have PPPs that would give options to the LGUs” she added.

“The entire Mindanao and Visayas are all done, for Luzon we launched already in Region 3 (Pampanga), Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) and Region 5 (Bicol), the remaining regions are CAR, Region 1, Region 4-A and Region 4-B so we have 15 PPP Knowledge Corner,” she added. (PNA)
