School officials reminded of ‘no collection policy’

ZAMBOANGA CITY–The Department of Education (DepEd) has reminded local school officials about the “no collection” policy during enrollment.

Dr. Rosalio Conturno, education supervisor for school governance and operations chief of the City Schools Division, said Tuesday there will be “no collection of any fees” during enrollment from kindergarten to high school.

Conturno, however, said authorized contributions may be collected but on a voluntary basis, starting second month of every school year for Grade 5 to secondary levels.

He said school officials, teachers and other personnel are not allowed to handle the collection of fees, safekeeping and disbursement of collections made by the General Parents-Teachers Association.

He said the Identification Card (ID) should be provided by the school for free and that uniform is not a requirement. (Teofilo Garcia, Jr/PNA)
