MANILA, July 13 — An official of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said the guidelines for the issuance of overseas Filipino worker (OFW) identification card or iDOLE are being readied.
According to Undersecretary Dominador Say, the rules on the implementation are thoroughly being discussed to ensure that everything has been covered.
“The guidelines are one of the matters being readied as well as other required documents,” he said.
The Labor and Employment official noted that it would be the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), an attached agency of the DOLE, to announce the guidelines.
“As soon as everything is done and before the full implementation if the ID system, the POEA will announce the guidelines, FAQs & other info needed by the public,” Say added.
The ID system for Filipinos working aboard was officially launched on Wednesday in Malacanang.
Initially, departing OFWs will be the ones that will be given the iDOLE.
An online application as well as the payment system for the card will be set up by the government.
The OFWs will not be charged since their employers will be the ones to shoulder the fee for the iDOLE.
It will replace the overseas employment certificate (OEC) required of workers deployed overseas. (Ferdinand G. Patinio/PNA)
