Jones Cup-bound Kobe Paras shows tenderness, dedicates his Gilas stint to Marawi siege victims

Exposing his superb basketball skills in recently concluded FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Nantes, France, it seems like Kobe Paras is not yet over as he continue to wave the country’s flag in his Jones Cup stint, and dedicate the fight to the Filipinos affected in Marawi siege.

The 19-year old Paras shows his great compassion and tenderness for the nation and for the soldiers who are still fighting for peace in Southern Philippines.

“My motivation is yung mga kababayan natin, especially yung mga sundalo na nasa Marawi. Iyon talaga ang motivation ko,” Kobe Paras said in an interview.

Paras, as the youngest member of the National team, had represented the country many times in the FIBA 3×3 U18 and FIBA U18 World Championships, and let the country be known around the globe by showing his throwing down and high-leaping finesse in FIBA 3×3 slam dunk championship, wherein he beat the giants of America and Europe back in 2013 and 2015.

“Age doesn’t matter. It’s more of the maturity and the thing you bring to the table so I’m just blessed to be part of this team. I’ve been representing our country since I was 15. At ngayon, nandito na ko sa Gilas in the highest competition of basketball,” Paras confidently said.

“Ngayon lang ulit ako magre-represent ng bansa, everytime I wear that jersey, hindi ko lang iniisip yung sarili ko, iniisip ko lahat ng kababayan ko dito sa Pilipinas,” Paras added. | Tretch Melarpes – PTV
