NDRRMC to conduct 2nd national quake drill on June 21

MANILA — In line with efforts to raise disaster awareness among various stakeholders, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), through its Regional RRM Councils, will conduct the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) at Barangay Sta. Ana, San Mateo, Rizal on June 21.

NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad, who is also Office of Civil Defense (OCD) administrator, said the event will officially start 2 p.m.

In line with this, the OCD will roll out its “Bida ang Handa Campaign” which seeks to promote disaster preparedness through public’s participation in the NSED.

The main goal of the activity is to gather the maximum number of commitments via social media.

Jalad said the activity involves the government, non-government, private, academe and media sectors as well as other stakeholders, with the following mechanics:

1. Take a photo or video, may be solo or in group, showcasing a preparedness activity with the main message: “Bida ang Handa”

Dahil Bida and handa!”

2. Post it in your social media accounts using the #BidaAngHanda.

3. Tag us, Civil Defense PH in Facebook or Twitter and invite your friends to do the same.
4. On 22 June 2018, share with us your earthquake drill experience by posting your photo or video on social media with #BidaAngHanda.

Jalad said individuals and groups are encouraged to post their videos on social media featuring preparedness measures to promote disaster preparedness at all levels.

#BidaAngHanda is the official hashtag for this year’s NSED. (PNA)
