Guv urges Antiqueños’ co-ownership to address health concerns

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique — Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao challenged Antiqueños to develop a spirit of co-ownership of the province so they would be able to help address numerous problems, particularly on health.

In addressing health workers and other partners during the “Pasidungog” awarding ceremony of the Antique Provincial Health Office (PHO) here Friday, Cadiao said that if they have the spirit of co-ownership, they would be more than willing to provide support in addressing the problems.

“Co-ownership redounds to co-creativity,” the governor said.

She cited her “Health for Antiquenos” program, which addresses malnutrition among children in the province and the lack of hospital facilities, which is being addressed through the efforts of Senator Loren Legarda, an Antiqueño.

Legarda has allocated PHP100 million for the construction of an additional six-storey 100-bed capacity hospital building at the Antique Provincial Hospital.

“Funds have also been given for the Culasi and Pandan district hospitals,” Cadiao said.

She said the move to increase the honorarium of the Day Care Workers and Barangay Health Workers is to motivate them to continue rendering services.

Meanwhile, PHO chief Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo said the ceremony was their way of thanking their partners and motivating them to continue supporting the health sector.

He also lauded members of the local media for doing their role in information dissemination of the programs and services of the health sector.

Antique education officials were also recognized for their support for the implementation of school-based immunization and other health services.

Local government officials and municipal health officials were also recognized for their implementation of the health programs. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
