Bacolod City allocates P22.1-M for repair of public schools

BACOLOD CITY — The Local School Board (LSB) of Bacolod City has approved a total funding of PHP22.117 million for the repair and improvement of various public elementary and high schools here this year.

“We recently approved these projects and the implementation will go through a process,” Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who chairs the LSB, said Friday, adding that he wants the projects implemented as soon as possible.

The amount, to be taken from the Special Education Fund (SEF), will come from two separate allocations, based on the board’s latest resolutions released by the City Mayor’s Office — PHP15.1 million from the 2018 budget for the repair and maintenance of buildings and other structures; and PHP7.017 million from the 2017 school building fund.

A total of PHP15.1 million will be spent for the repair of 11 schools: Corazon Locsin Montelibano Elementary School, Rizal Elementary School, Andres Bonifacio Elementary School II, Education and Training Center School (ETCS) I, II and III, and Apolinario Mabini Elementary School will get PHP1.6 million each; Vista Alegre Elementary School, Don Alfredo Montelibano Elementary School, and F.F. Gonzaga Elementary School, PHP1.2 million each; and Mariano G. Medalla Integrated School, PHP300,000.

Meanwhile, the PHP7.017 million will be used for the improvement of 21 schools. The newly-opened ETCS IV, will get PHP2 million; Apolinario Mabini Elementary School, PHP1.2 million; Mariano G. Medalla Integrated School, PHP440,000; Bata National High School and Handumanan National High School, PHP433,000 each; Bacolod City National High School, PHP229,000;  Emiliano Lizares National High School and Mansilingan Agro-Industrial High School, PHP274,000 each; Fr. Gratian Murray, AFSC Integrated School, PHP196,000; Handumanan Elementary School I, PHP188,000; Luis Hervias National High School, PHP175,000; Jovito Sayson National High School, Mandalagan National High School, and Romanito Maravilla National High School, PHP130,000 each;  Antonio L. Jayme Elementary School, Luisa Medel National High School, Teofilo Gensoli National High School, Alangilan National High School, and Sum-ag National High School, PHP115,000 each; and Paglaum Village National High School and Handumanan Elementary School II, PHP105,000 each.(Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
