Central Visayas’ ‘Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya’ winners bared

CEBU CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 (Central Visayas) on Tuesday announced the provincial winners in its search for the region’s “Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya”.

DSWD-7 Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre said the first placers from each of the four provinces in Central Visayas will advance to the regional level of the competition next month.

For Bohol province, the Oque family of Batuan town emerged as the winner while the Lingacion family of Balilihan took the second spot. The Muring family of Trinidad placed third.

The top winner in Cebu province was the Campugan family of Cordova, while the Villegas folks of Medellin placed second, and the Garciano family of Poro, third.

Winning the search in Negros Oriental province was the Suple family from Basay, with the Bohol family from Mabinay and the Mercullo family of Valencia ranking second and third, respectively.

From Siquijor province, the Bagundol family of Maria led the list of winners, followed by the Caspiz family from the provincial capital of Siquijor town and the Lapinig household of Larena.

Macapobre said the provincial winners will receive cash prizes and certificates of recognition during an elaborate awarding ceremony slated later this month.

“Their stories are truly inspirational and worthy of emulation by other ‘Pantawid Pamilya’ beneficiaries,” Macapobre said. “They are an addition to our family ambassadors that can serve as role models in their respective communities.”

The panel of judges for the search was composed of officials from partner civil society organizations, national government agencies, including the Department of Health, the Department of Education, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Representatives from the provincial governments of Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Siquijor also joined the panel of judges. (Luel Galarpe/PNA)
