More cops deployed for internal security ops in NegOcc

BACOLOD CITY — The Police Regional Office-6 in Western Visayas deployed an additional 140 policemen to Negros Occidental in the first week of June to beef up the internal security operations in the province.

Insp. Charmae de Paz, the provincial police public information officer, said over the weekend that the augmentation forces were dispatched to the two companies of the Negros Occidental Police Mobile Force Company (NOCPMFC).

A total of 72 personnel were assigned to the 1st Company led by Supt. Robert Lingbawan based at the provincial police headquarters in Bacolod.

The remaining 68 police personnel joined the 2nd Company headed by Chief Insp. Lowell Garinganao, with headquarters in the southern town of Hinigaran.

De Paz said the newly-assigned troops include Police Officers 1, who completed the 60-day Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC) under the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office last month.

Two hundred ninety-three rookie policemen, including the 140 now assigned to the NOCPMFC, underwent the BISOC training in the province.

The remaining 152 have been dispatched to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-6 based in Victorias City in northern Negros.

Last week, the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division also deployed to Negros Island an additional 500 soldiers under the newly-activated 94th Infantry Battalion.

The 94th IB, led by Lt. Col. Carlo Ferrer, is the fourth battalion under the 303rd Infantry Brigade, covering the provinces of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.

The battalion was activated by Lt. Gen. Rolando Joselito Bautista, chief of the Philippine Army, during the 44th founding anniversary of the 3rd ID last May 10. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
