P10.17-M drugs seized by Bacolod police in past 6 months

BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized PHP10.17 million worth of illegal drugs in its various operations in the past six months here.

The drug haul, recorded between December 5, 2017 and June 13, 2018, included 677.2 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with a value of PHP10.158 million and 59.88 grams of marijuana (cannabis) amounting to PHP13,773.

The figures were presented by Chief Inspector Lester Leada, head of the Bacolod police’s operations unit, on Wednesday afternoon during the consultation-dialogue on the proposed Balay Silangan Program of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.

During the period, Bacolod police anti-drug units conducted 191 operations, which led to the filing of 422 cases and identification of 58 new surrenderers.

They neutralized 315 drug personalities, including 176 pushers, 133 users, four minors. Two high-value targets were killed.

The two, Ramy Poja, and Roberto Lim, died during a police pursuit operation in Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago last May 24.

The operation, supervised by Senior Supt. Francisco Ebreo, city police officer-in-charge, was initiated by joint operatives of Police Station 3 headed by Senior Insp. Victor Paulino, Special Operations Group under assistant team leader Insp. Adrian James Albaytar, and Bacolod City Mobile Force Company/Special Weapons and Tactics group headed by Supt. Leonardo Borromeo.

A total of 36 personnel led by Ebreo, Paulino and Albaytar were awarded the Philippine National Police (PNP) Medal of Merit for demonstrating exemplary competence and commendable performance during the operation against Poja and his companions.

Seventeen others led by Borromeo received the PNP Commendation Medal for rendering support to the operating teams, also during the operation against the Poja drug group. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
